Payroll Errors: 'OLE iDispatch exception code 4096 from Microsoft Outlook: outlook does not recognize one or more names'

This error typically occurs when Microsoft Outlook does not recognize an email address, usually due to a typo or incorrect format. Email addresses must follow standard formatting rules. In some cases, the issue may also be related to system permissions when launching Outlook or Payroll.

Verify the Email Address

  • Ensure the email address is spelled correctly

  • Confirm it follows the correct format (e.g., [email protected])

  • Check that the domain name is valid

Note: If the email address is incorrect, Outlook will prompt an error message.

Run Applications as Administrator

If the issue persists, try running both Payroll and Outlook with administrator privileges:

  1. Locate the Access UBS Payroll icon on your desktop.

  2. Right-click the icon and select Run as Administrator.

  3. Open the Windows Start menu and search for Microsoft Outlook.

  4. Right-click Microsoft Outlook and select Run as Administrator.
