Payroll Setup & Maintenance: How to update Access UBS Payroll

Payroll update issue — unable to open Payroll after upgrading as services did not start, or not receiving the “New Update is available” message when trying to update to the latest version.

Updated over 2 months ago

To upgrade your Access UBS software via the online update:

  1. The software will display the message New Update is available, do you want to download update? Click Yes. If you do not see the New Update message, try the following:

    1. Go to Control Panel, View by (use large/small Icon), Administrative Tools, Services.

    2. Locate Access UBS Update Service and make sure it is in Running Status. If not, right-click the service and click Start.

    3. Make sure the following folders are empty. If there are any files, delete them. (They are cache files that are no longer valid):

C:\SUBSPAYEX\onlineupdate\CPL\

C:\SUBSPAYEX\onlineupdate\HRMS\

C:\SUBSPAYEX\onlineupdate\PAY\

The online update procedure should now be available.

2. Close all Access UBS applications. The update will begin.

3. Once completed, log in and open your database.

4. The message Upgrade Database is displayed. Click OK.

5. Once the database upgrade is complete, you can use the new version as per normal.

If Access UBS applications aren’t closed during the update, it will fail and stop UBS services. When launching Access UBS Payroll, you may see the error “No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it: 8900.” Refer to No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it: 8900 — this applies to both UBS Payroll and UBS Accounting.
