Payroll Processing: NPL deduction method setup guide

Information on understanding differences between system-generated and manually calculated NPL (Net Profit/Loss) figures

Updated over a month ago

The NPL needs to be set up before processing pay, and refer below on how to do it:

  1. Go to Housekeeping.

  2. Select Setup.

  3. Select Parameter Setup, then Pay Calculation.

  4. In Parameter Setup.

  5. You can select the Deduction method for NPL as:

  • Rate / Working days

  • Rate / Fixed days per month

  • Rate / No. of days in the month

Sample calculation:
Basic Rate = RM 1,600.00

Working Days:
The customer has decided that the company will only have 5 days a week as working days. The company is closed on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

In 2021, August will have 22 working days for 5 days per week.

There are 5 Sundays and 4 Saturdays. Thus, total Working Days: 31 – (5 Sundays and 4 Saturdays) = 22 Working Days for August 2021.

Fixed Days:
Fixed days is fixed at 26 days per month for calculation purposes.

No. of Days in the month:
Depending on which month of the year, the system will use calendar days in the month to calculate NPL. For example, August will have 31 days in the calculation method.
