Accounting Errors: 'Error reading File Y:\...' when selecting a function in accounts

Error reading file on a Y:\ drive or Windows mapped drive simply means that:

  • You have no access to that file. You do not have read & write access to that resource.

  • The resource location or the file location is unavailable. You may have limited access to the network, or there might be some network connection issues.

Check the following: you may need your IT admin person to assist:

  • Close the Access UBS application and launch Access UBS again to try the same function. This will fix any connection issues.

  • Check that all the devices (computers) you are using are the same Windows version to avoid any issues.

  • Remove password-protected sharing from Windows advanced sharing settings.

  • Configure the network file and folder sharing settings to allow full access to the user.
