Payroll Processing: Paying OT and allowance for the 1st half and salary for the 2nd half

Pay only overtime for 1st half w/o basic pay. but no pcb rate

Updated over a week ago

This scenario occurs when a user processes payroll in two halves—paying OT and allowances in the 1st half and basic salary in the 2nd half. If the OT rate is calculated using the basic pay, it may show as zero in the 1st half payroll because the basic salary has not yet been paid.

The steps below explain how to ensure OT and allowances are calculated correctly when splitting payroll across two periods.

  1. In Housekeeping, Setup, Table Maintenance, and Payment Table.

  2. Check OT against Calculate Using Basic Rate Instead of Basic Pay. If it is not checked, Basic Pay will be used to calculate the OT rate.

  3. Since basic salary is not paid in 1st half of the payroll, basic pay is zero, so the OT rate is also zero.
