eInvoicing Setup & Maintenance: TIN search using BRN or Identification number

This article explains how to perform a TIN search using BRN or other identification numbers and outlines important differences between the Production and Pre-Production environments that may affect search results.

Updated over a week ago

Supported Identification Types

As advised by LHDN, the following identification types are supported for TIN search:

  • MyKad

  • Passport

  • MyTentera

  • Business Registration Number (BRN)

Ensure that the correct identification type is used when performing the search.

TIN Search Using MyKad (Production Environment)

When performing a TIN search using MyKad in the Production environment, follow the steps below: Verify the registered name in the Pre-Production Tax Profile.

  1. Enter the MyKad number in the Identification field.

  2. Leave the BRN field empty.

    • Do not enter β€œNA” or any placeholder value.

  3. Proceed with the TIN search.

Note: If any value is entered in the BRN field, the system will prioritize BRN for the search, which may result in the TIN not being found.

TIN Search in Pre-Production Environment

Please note that the registered name in the Pre-Production environment may differ from the Production environment. Due to this difference, the TIN search may return no results even when the identification number is valid.

  1. Verify the registered name in the Pre-Production Tax Profile.

  2. Ensure the name and identification details entered match the Pre-Production records exactly.

  3. Perform the TIN search again using the verified information.

Notes:

  • Always confirm the identification type before performing a TIN search.

  • Differences between Production and Pre-Production data are expected and may impact search results.
